Q1. What is the difference between the PFR Book and the PFR Pricing Program?
A1. The PFR book is a national fee reference with a section on geographic multipliers with a look up table for all U.S. zip code areas. The PFR Pricing Program (CD-ROM) is zip code specific and does not require any mathematical adjustments.

Q2. Does the PFR Pricing Program come with free tech support?
A2. Yes. If you have questions, software technical support is free for 30 days.

Q3. Does the PFR Pricing Program export?
A3. There are 3 PFR Pricing Program versions: Standard, All Zips, and Developer.  The Standard and All Zips versions export Code, Description, and S1/S2 (User defined fee schedules). The Professional Version exports all fields including the PFR proprietary  fee percentiles P50, P75 and P90. File Formats include: ASCII, Access, Dbase, Excel & Lotus. See Record Layout.  To download a PFR Developers Version license agreement see Answer #6 below.

Q4. Does the PFR Pricing Program import?
A4. Yes. You are able to import user defined fee and frequency schedules into S1-S5 and F1-F5 using the following formats: ASCII, Access, Dbase, Excel & Lotus. All 3 versions of the PFR Pricing Program import.

Q5. When Is the PFR updated?
A5. The PFR (Book & Pricing Program) is updated annually and typically released in January of the current publication year. Bug fixes and patches are available free via internet downloads.

Q6. What is the difference between the developers and all zips versions?
A6. As stated in FAQ 3, there are 3 versions of the PFR Pricing Program: Standard, All Zips and Developer.  The Developer version is an All Zip version that exports all fields including the PFR proprietary database: P50, P75 and P90. The Developers Version requires a signed license agreement (HTML) stating (in brief) that the proprietary PFR data base is intellectual property that cannot be sold, posted or distributed without a written agreement. See PFR Pricing Program Options for a feature comparison.

Q7. Does the PFR have all CPT codes or is specialty specific?
A7. The PFR does not have anesthesiology codes. All other specialties are represented.

Q8. Does the PFR contain RBRVS?
A8. The PFR (book and software) contains total unadjusted RBRVS unit values. Total refers to the sum of work, practice and malpractice unit values. Unadjusted refers to non geographically adjustments. Total unit values are helpful in getting a "snapshot" relative value price or a "ball park" fee but cannot be used to calculate Medicare fee schedules.  See RBRVS EZ-Fees for more information.

Q9. Who uses the PFR?
A9. Physicians, Surgeons, Office and Coding Staff, Consultants, Chiropractors, Hospitals, Billing Services, Health Care Executives/Administrators/Officers, State and Federal Agencies and anyone else who is interested in medical reimbursement.

Q10. Can I change zip codes?
A10. Yes, you can set the main screen to any 5 digit zip code provided the 5 digit zip code is within your 3 digit zip code prefix. For example, you purchased the Chicago zip code prefix 606.  You can look up any zip code that starts with the prefix 606 such as 60625 and 60657.

Q11. Can I upgrade to the All Zip or Developer Version?
A11. Yes, you can upgrade by paying for the upgrade version and selecting Help-Upgrade.

Q12. Is there a free demo of PFR?
A12. No, but there is a 30 day money back guarantee of satisfaction on the PFR book and PFR Pricing Program (except the Developers Version). A sample page of the PFR can be faxed upon request.

Q13. What are PFR Pricing Program system requirements?
A13. CR-ROM, Pentium Processor, Windows® 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP 10 Megabytes hard drive space.
